About PinPointer

PinPointer is a map guessing game that turns your city into a daily puzzle. It is built for players who enjoy local geography, map challenges, and learning new neighborhoods through play.

Why It Exists

Maps are full of stories, but it is easy to stay on familiar routes. PinPointer helps you explore by testing how well you recognize streets, landmarks, restaurants, and parks.

Modes

• Streets: Daily Challenge and Sandbox mode for street identification.
• Points of Interest: Landmarks, restaurants, parks, and a mixed mode.

Explored Maps

PinPointer keeps an "Explored maps" list for quicker reloads. It reflects maps that have already been loaded in by other users, which will be faster to play. You can load in your own city, but this may take a short while to gather the data for.

Data Sources

PinPointer uses OpenStreetMap for map, street, and place data, accessed via the Overpass API and Nominatim geocoding services. Data is shown for gameplay and remains the property of their contributors.
