How PinPointer Works
PinPointer builds a playable map from public street and place data, then turns it into a guessing game. The goal is to match a name with its location on the map.
Step 1: Load a City
When you search for a city, PinPointer gathers information about its map. The game focuses on named streets and recognizable points of interest. If the map has been explored before by other players, it will load faster.
Step 2: Choose a Mode
- Streets: Daily Challenge (20 streets) or Sandbox (custom count).
- Points of Interest: Landmarks, Restaurants, Parks, or Mixed.
Step 3: Guess Places or Streets
The game highlights all playable items in gray. Hover to preview a street, point, or area, then click to guess. Correct guesses turn green and stay visible so you can track your progress.
Daily Challenge Consistency
Daily mode chooses streets based on the current date and the city name. That means every player sees the same 20 streets for that city on a given day, so can you compare your score with friends.
Score Tracking
Scores are stored locally in your browser for daily challenges. PinPointer keeps your first score, best score, and total attempts for each day.
